Public lecture "Astrophysics in the 21st century"

23 october, 2024

On October 31, 2024, in the Abay Hall (room 308) in the library of Al-Farabi KazNU, a public lecture "Astrophysics in the 21st century" will be held by Professor Dimitri Semikoz from the Laboratory of Astrophysics and Cosmology, CNRS and Paris-Cité University, France. The lecture will cover the following aspects: the transition to modern observation methods in astrophysics: robotic telescopes, satellites measuring at different wavelengths, ground-based detectors using the achievements of particle physics in astrophysics. The study of black holes and neutron stars. The supermassive black hole at the center of our Galaxy. High-energy astrophysics. Neutrino astronomy and gamma astronomy. Gravitational waves, the merger of black holes and neutron stars, the origin of the elements. The purpose of this lecture is to educate and familiarize schoolchildren, students and all interested parties with Astrophysics within the framework of SDG 4 – Quality Education.
