The role of education in promoting SDG
On October 28, 2024, the senior lecturers of the Department of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Philology of Farabi University, A.A. Muldagaliyeva, K.A. Zhirenshina, D.M. Makhmetova, I.G. Orazbekova, Z.S. Nessipbayeva, E.I. Lugovskaiya held an online educational event on the topic: “The role of education in promoting SDGs” within the framework of SDG 4: Quality Education. The first year students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology and Higher School of Business and Economy of Farabi University, and the Kazakhstani citizens studying at the universities of South Korea and Turkey at the moment took part in the given event. The speakers made reports in English and German.
During the event the students shared their studying experience at foreign universities through video messages. The student of Higher School of Economy and Business, Gaziza Sheraly told about her experience of passing IELTS. She recommended the web resources that are useful in IELTS preparation. The student of Higher School of Economy and Business, Karakat Zhanasbayeva shared her studying experience at Prague University in English. The student of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Aziza Melskyzy prepared the report about the studying process at Pusan National University.
The most interesting report was made by Michael Simonov in German who was prepared by senior lecturer K.A. Zhirenshina. The report was devoted to SDG 4: Quality Education and was made in English and German.
The students of English Department of Chemical Engineering specialty ended the event with their speech focused on the role of quality education in economic and social development of a country.
Also at the end of the event the participants of SDG Event Education Telegram Chat had an opportunity to watch the video-messages from the Kazakhstani citizens studying at the universities of Turkey and South Korea in which they shared their studying experiences and the short video clips made by the first year students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Education in which they told about what contribution they would made to the promotion of SDG in Kazakhstan after completing bachelor’s degree program.
