within the framework of SDG 2: Zero Hunger
On October 26, 2024, the members of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a visiting seminar at the agrotourism farm of the 2002 graduate Aibol Seidaliev "Ranai Farm" in the Zhambyl district of the Almaty region (within the framework of SDG 2: Zero Hunger).
During the excursion, information was given that the territory allows not only to breed horses, but there are areas for swimming, fishing, an apple orchard, greenhouses. The rooms are 2-bed with air conditioning and all amenities. From May to September, the farm accepts up to 80 people daily for saumal.
A graduate of our department shared his experience in developing the farm, told how many different options for developing the farm he undertook (camels, chickens, sheep, horses, greenhouses), what worked out and what did not. The farm owner has many plans and ideas, he is constantly learning, attending seminars and maintaining contacts with various associations and tourism development specialists, and completed the Damu training program in the USA. It was said that the higher education he received at our university helps him a lot in his work.
The teachers of the department shared their research on the development of agrotourism in the Almaty region, discussed innovative methods and forms of agrotourism, and shared contacts of stakeholders. The meeting was very interesting and productive. A tasting of the products was also organized.
