SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) - Migration and Workers' Rights.

On 13 October 2024, the 2nd year Master's students of the English group of the speciality ‘International Law’ under the guidance of the lecturer of the International Law Department D.V. Tatarinov held an open class in English within the framework of SDG: SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) - Migration and Workers' Rights. / SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) - Migration and Workers' Rights.

The session covered key aspects of international law relating to migration and the protection of workers' rights, including the following topics:

- The main international instruments governing the rights of migrant workers, such as International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions and the UN International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.

- The role of international organisations such as the ILO, the UN and the World Bank in ensuring decent working conditions for migrants and protecting their rights.

- The legal obligations of States under international agreements on migrants' rights, including their right to work, protection from discrimination and access to social services.

- Examples of countries that have implemented effective programmes to protect migrant workers and ensure their rights.

- Problems and challenges faced by labour migrants, including exploitation, violation of labour rights and legal insecurity.

The session contributed to an in-depth analysis of international legal norms governing the rights of migrants and enhanced students‘ knowledge of protecting workers’ rights in a global economy.
