SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) - Green Economy and International Law.
On 12 October 2024, the 2nd year Master's students of the English group of the speciality ‘International Law’ under the guidance of the lecturer of the International Law Department D.V. Tatarinov held an open class in English within the framework of SDG: SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) - Green Economy and International Law. / SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) - Green Economy and International Law.
The session covered key aspects of international law related to green economy and sustainable economic growth, including the following topics:
- Key international instruments governing the green economy, such as the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
- The role of international organisations such as the UN, ILO and the World Bank in supporting the transition to sustainable economic development and the creation of decent jobs.
- Legal obligations of states under international agreements to support sustainable development and social justice.
- Examples of successful practices in different countries that demonstrate how the green economy contributes to economic growth and improved labour conditions.
- Problems and challenges associated with the transition to green economy principles, including the issue of equitable distribution of resources and environmental responsibility.
The session helped students to better understand the relationship between economic growth and environmental protection in the context of international law, as well as to improve their skills in analysing legal norms in English.
