KazNU for the first time hosts the annual meeting ‘Campus on Campus’
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is hosting the annual Campus to Campus (CiC)meeting.
The Campus-to-Campus Initiative is a scheme to share research and educational resources on the campuses of partner universities without any national or institutional barriers. In addition, the initiative is designed to increase the mobility of students, faculty and administrative staff.
The meeting is attended by representatives of the management of Al-Farabi KazNU, prominent scientists, government and public figures and delegations of the project partner universities: University of Tsukuba, National Taiwan University, National Cheng Kung University (PRC), University of Technology of Malaysia, Malaysian-Japanese International Institute of Technology, Ruhr University in Bochum (Germany), University of São Paulo (Brazil).
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev. In his speech, he noted that the annual meeting of the initiative ‘Campus on Campus’ for the first time is held at Al-Farabi KazNU, which this year marks 90 years since its foundation. KazNU maintains close ties with the University of Tsukuba on the ‘Campus to Campus’ project. ‘The initiative ‘Campus on Campus’ is not just a project, but a unique platform for teachers and students. Today we are laying the foundation for a new level of interaction and open dialogue. We intend to conduct joint research that will contribute to the progress of our countries. We strive to ensure that our students and teachers have access to the world's best practices, modern technologies and unique knowledge. It is through such initiatives as ‘Campus to Campus’ that we can ensure a quality exchange of scientific and educational resources’, - said the Rector of KazNU.
President of the University of Tsukuba Nagata Kesuke dwelt on the issues of interaction between universities and emphasised that cross-cultural cooperation plays a key role in modern education. He expressed hope for further deepening of ties between Japanese and Kazakh education. Further discussion of issues related to the improvement of cooperation mechanisms between universities, integration of educational programmes and exchange mechanisms was held, and the main directions of further work within the framework of the ‘Campus to Campus’ initiative were identified.
As part of the forum, the guests of honour will get acquainted with the work of the Remote Sensing Technology and Applications Laboratory and the Farabi Hub, a centre for innovative products and high-tech projects. The work of the annual meeting ‘Campus on Campus’ will continue tomorrow.
