The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been adopted globally to eradicate poverty, combat inequality and injustice, and foster peace and prosperity for all. By 2030, 17 key areas have been identified for implementation, which are essential for promoting sustainable development across all aspects of life and addressing global challenges that affect every individual.

Among these goals, Goal 4 focuses on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for everyone. Notably, Clause 4.7 states that by 2030, all students should acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable development. This includes an understanding of sustainable practices, human rights, gender equality, global cultures, and non-violence, as well as the importance of global citizenship and the cultural value of diversity in contributing to sustainable development.

In this context, the faculty of pre-university education at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, particularly the Department of Language and General Education Training for Foreigners, is actively promoting sustainable development. On July 22, 2024, an event titled "The Most Difficult Pages of the History of Kazakhstan" was held for foreign students studying the language. This event featured a presentation highlighting the most significant hardships faced by the Kazakh people throughout history, including slides depicting severe historical events and artifacts.

The primary aim of this event was to educate participants about the causes of the challenges humanity faces globally and to underscore the value of human rights. Through such initiatives, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding of these critical issues among its students.
