Students of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of KazNU have chosen a Student Dean

At the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, the values of democracy, independence and responsibility are instilled from the student years. To enable students to participate in the management of their academic life and influence decisions that relate to their interests, students choose a student dean.

A student dean is a representative who protects the rights and interests of students before the university administration, as well as contributes to the creation of a comfortable and productive learning environment.

The importance of the Student Dean election institute is as follows:

1. Strengthening student self-governance: The election process gives students a voice and a sense of responsibility for their educational environment. Active participation of students in elections and support for their candidates helps to strengthen democratic principles at the university.
2. Support for academic and social initiatives: The Student dean can initiate activities related to study, sports and culture, as well as promote ideas that improve living and learning conditions. He or she can organize events, seminars, and projects that are useful to the student community.
3. Role of mediator: The Student Dean plays the role of mediator between students and the administration, helping to resolve conflicts and protecting the interests of students. This promotes open and honest communication between students and university management.
4. Improving the quality of education: The dean chosen by students better understands their needs and expectations, and can influence changes in the curriculum and improve educational standards.                                                                                                                                                                          

The election of a student dean is a step towards developing the skills of leadership, civic responsibility and student participation in the life of the university. These choices not only contribute to the personal development of students, but also allow the university to become more open and focused on the needs of its students.          

On October 4, 2024, the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology held the election of a new student dean. 3 candidates ran for the post of student dean:

• Tolegenov Dias Almasuly - 3rd year student of the specialty "Biotechnology";
• Алтаева Zhansaya Altayeva - 3rd year student of the specialty "Neuroscience";
• Kalkoz Dilnaz Dzhomartovna -3rd year student of the specialty "Biology".

В тайном голосовании приняли участ331331 students, the dean and two deputies took part in the secret ballot.the dean's office. 

НElectionями observersincluded:

• Deputy ofthe Committee of Youth Organizations Dana Shynybekova,
• Deputy of the Committee of Youth Organizations Pralin Daniyar,
• Student Dean of the Faculty of History Berikovna Nazerke,
• Chairman of the Scientific Society of Students Bimaganbet Mereke.

The elections provided conditions of transparency, honesty and freedom of choice. 

Based on the results of vote counting, it was found that the candidates received the following number of votes:

▪️28.2% - Tolegenov Dias Almasuly

▪️50.6% -  Алтаева Zhansaya Altayeva Еркиновна

▪️21.2% - Kalkoz Dilnaz Dzhomartovna

Thus, Zhansaya Altayeva, a 3rd-year student of the specialty "Neuroscience", won by a majority Алтаева Жансая of votes.
