Celebration of a Teacher and Scholar
On October 24, 2024, within the framework of SDG Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a republican scientific and theoretical conference dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Serikbai Kylyshbayuly Kosanov, a renowned researcher of literature and folklore, Turkologist, poet, and Candidate of Philology. The conference was devoted to the theme "Historical Tasks and Contemporary Aspects of Literature and Folklore Studies."
The event included the presentation of Kosanov's monographs "Poetry of Improvisation and Artistic Tradition" and "Early Enlightenment and the Legacy of Abai," published by "Daryn" in 2024, as well as his poetry collection "Alty kyr." A video showcasing the scholar's literary and scientific achievements was also presented.
Domestic scholars presented reports on the scientist's academic career, his contributions to Turkology and Abay studies, and his poetic talent, both in-person and online. The presentations covered a wide range of topics related to contemporary aspects of literature and folklore studies.
Zhandara Dadebayev, Doctor of Philology and Director of the Abai Research Institute, highly praised Kosanov's fundamental work on the translation of "Tazkere-i-Bogra Khan" and his invaluable contribution to the collection and scientific circulation of materials.
The conference also highlighted Kosanov's pedagogical skills, with his students reciting his poems by heart.
