The Visual Turn in Historical Sciences: Ways and Techniques of "Reading" Images by Contemporary Historians
On November 29, 2024, at 5:00 PM, Viktoria Vasilyeva, Visiting Professor at the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies of KazNU named after al-Farabi and Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Film and Audiovisual Studies of Sorbonne Nouvelle University (Paris), will hold an online research seminar on the topic: The Visual Turn in Historical Sciences: Ways and Techniques of "Reading" Images by Contemporary Historians.
Questions for discussion:
- The visual object as historical evidence: its specifics and prospects for the researcher;
- Modes of vision in different cultures: the possibility of comparison;
- The problem of visual documentation in the human and social sciences.
