Organizing Scientific Collection Work: Experience Exchange Among Museum Professionals
As part of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 17 "Partnerships for the Goals," staff members of the Abish Kekilbayev Mangystau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore are undergoing scientific internships and professional development at the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology, and Museology of the Faculty of History at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
During the internship, an experience exchange session on "Formation and Organization of Scientific Collection Work" was conducted under the guidance of Galiya Temirton, Acting Director of the State Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This event aimed to deepen the professional knowledge of museum specialists and explore effective methods for managing scientific collection activities.
In her lecture, Galiya Temirton covered key aspects of proper preservation, systematization, and integration of museum exhibits into scientific research. She demonstrated methods to enhance the efficiency of scientific collection work through the use of modern digital technologies, digitization of exhibits, and their systematization. Practical recommendations on managing museum collections, conducting research, and ensuring public access were also provided.
The experience exchange allowed museum staff to adopt new methods in scientific research, improve their skills in preserving and presenting exhibits, and make significant contributions to promoting cultural heritage. This internship greatly strengthened collaboration between museums and facilitated the sharing of best practices in the field of heritage preservation.
