UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held an online session "Sustainable Tomorrow: The path to new Horizons"

On November 29, 2024, the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University organized an online session on the topic "Sustainable Tomorrow: The path to new Horizons". The initiator of this session was the International Socio-economic Global Award "Golden Chariot". Thus, the event was held within the framework of the World Forum "New Era & Golden Chariot global award 2024", which takes place in India from November 30 to December 5.  

The conference brought together leading scientists, representatives of environmental movements and experts in the field of sustainable development from the CIS countries, Europe and the Arab States. The working languages of the event were Kazakh, Russian, Arabic, English and French. 

Welcoming remarks were made by: Zhamilya Nurmatovna Aitzhanova, Board member and Vice-rector for Scientific Innovation at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University; Vlastimil Samek, representative of the UN Department of Global Communications in Almaty; Tegina Ekaterina Vladislavovna, Communications Adviser to the Russian Representative Office of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other representatives of the leadership of educational organizations. The session participants also had the opportunity to see a video message from Obrillant Damus, associate professor at the University of Sherbrooke, Canada.

During the session, reports from scientists from various organizations and universities were heard and discussed, such as:

  • Republican Center for Quarantine and Especially Dangerous Infections of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of ;
  • Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University
  • Tyumen State University (Russia);
  • Baku State University (Azerbaijan);
  • National Institute of Educational Pedagogy named after Kara-Niyazy, Uzbekistan; Environmental Protection Agency (Yemen);
  • Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Other participants from various organizations also joined the session, whose articles will be included in the final collection of the conference. This event has become a unique platform for discussing topical issues of sustainable development, sharing international experience and developing new approaches to solving global environmental and socio-economic challenges.
