Participation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the Forum of Presidents of the Silk Road University Alliance and the meeting of the Executive Council of 2024

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took part in the Forum of Presidents of the Silk Road University Alliance (#UASR) and the meeting of the Executive Council in 2024 as the rotating President of the UASR, which was held by Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). 

The opening ceremony was conducted by Mr. Nicholas Ho Lik-chi, Commissioner for "One Belt and One Road" of the Bureau of Trade and Economic Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Professor Jin-Guang TENG, President of PolyU; and Professor ZHANG Lijun, President of Xi'an Jiaotong University.

The forum entitled "Strategies for Global Engagement along the #Silk Road" brought together members of the UASR Executive Board to exchange ideas in support of the "One Belt and One Road" initiative, pool resources for the development of education and talent education, as well as provide joint opportunities to promote the development of higher education in the countries of the "One Belt and One Road".

The event brought together representatives of the world's leading universities to discuss topical issues of internationalization of higher education. Among the key topics raised at the forum were:  

• Development of international cooperation in the field of education and science;  
• The introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into educational processes;  
• Sustainable development in the context of global challenges.  

Within the framework of the forum, A. Aktymbaeva made a presentation on the topic "Priority directions of internationalization of higher education, presenting the experience of KazNU in developing sustainable educational programs and expanding international scientific cooperation. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of integrating innovative approaches and technologies to strengthen the global academic community.  

The participation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in such a significant international event underlines its status as a leading university in Central Asia and an active participant in the global educational environment, implementing the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals 4, 17. The Forum has become an effective platform for strengthening existing partnerships and establishing new academic ties with world-class universities.
