"Crim-Ex – 2024"
On November 28, 2024, the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Forensics, in collaboration with the "Center for Crime Prevention Research," organized the 11th International Professional Skills Competition, "Best Experts in Forensics and Criminalistics – Crim-Ex 2024," for master's and undergraduate students.
The first competition, "Crim-Ex 2014," initiated and inspired by the head of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Forensics, Prof. R.E. Jansaraeva, featured three teams from Almaty universities. Over the years, the geography of participating universities expanded, and the number of teams grew, establishing the contest as a prominent and anticipated event in higher education.
This year's event was held as part of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals:
4. "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all";
16. "Peace, justice, and strong institutions";
17. "Partnerships for sustainable development."
The competition brought together 12 teams from leading universities in Kazakhstan and abroad.
Participants showcased profound theoretical knowledge and practical skills in criminalistics and forensic examination, delving into real-world scenarios and challenging tasks with professionalism and creativity. Each team presented unique approaches and innovative ideas aimed at solving crimes. The event served as a platform for experience exchange, networking with like-minded peers, and creative inspiration for future endeavors, fostering comprehensive understanding, critical thinking, and teamwork skills among students and postgraduates — essential aspects of training qualified specialists for law enforcement agencies.
