On December 10, 2024, the Department of Chinese Studies hosted a scientific seminar dedicated to the presentation of a new monograph titled "China's National Policy in Xinjiang." The monograph was developed as part of a grant-funded project by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and published with the support of the R.B.Suleimenov Institute of Oriental Studies. The authors of the monograph are Dukken Masimkhanuly and Nabizhan Mukamethanuly, leading researchers in the field of Sinology.

The main speaker of the seminar was one of the authors of the monograph, Nabizhan Mukamethanuly, a professor at the Department of Sinology and director of the "Center for the Study of Contemporary China." During his presentation, he shared insights into the history of the monograph's creation, its core ideas, and the approaches used in its development. Special attention was given to the analysis of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) policy toward national minorities in Xinjiang.

The seminar attracted great interest from faculty, doctoral students, and master's students of the Department of Sinology. Participants highlighted the relevance of the topic, given that the Xinjiang region holds strategic importance both historically and economically for Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan. With the growing geopolitical and geoeconomic significance of the region, studying China's national policy has become increasingly important for strengthening multi-sectoral relations between Kazakhstan and China.

Following the presentation, participants posed numerous questions regarding the key aspects of the monograph. Professor Nabizhan Mukamethanuly provided comprehensive answers, sparking a lively discussion. The event served as a significant platform for addressing pressing issues related to China's policy in Xinjiang and opened up new opportunities for further academic research.
