Kazakh Master's Students at Istanbul Technical University
From November 22 to December 5, 2024, master's students of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University participated in a scientific internship at Istanbul Technical University in Turkey. This internship marked an important step in enhancing the qualifications of future professionals and fostering international collaboration in meteorology and climatology.
During the internship, participants attended scientific seminars and lectures on pressing issues in climatology. These included studies on climate change and its impacts on agriculture, energy, and water resources. Special attention was given to environmental protection, air quality analysis, and forecasting methods based on modern climate models.
The program included training in geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing technologies, as well as mastering methods for analyzing and processing spatial data. A dedicated session was conducted on analyzing air pollution data using RStudio software. These skills form the foundation of modern approaches to studying climate and the environment.
The internship was led by Turkish scientists Hüseyin Özdemir and Özkan Çapraz. They shared their expertise in climate modeling and risk assessment, providing participants with a unique opportunity to work with advanced software and scientific tools. The experience gained in Istanbul will serve as a basis for the students' further scientific research, including their dissertations.
The participants highlighted the high level of program organization, the richness of its content, and the warm welcome from their Turkish colleagues.
International internships not only contribute to the professional growth of students but also strengthen scientific ties between countries. Istanbul Technical University became a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, which will undoubtedly bear fruit in the future.
