KazNU graduate received an invitation to Oxford
The graduate and young scholar of the Department of Chinese Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Arystanbek Akylbay, has been admitted to the University of Oxford (United Kingdom).
The talented and gifted scholar continues to pursue knowledge tirelessly. Earlier, the young scientist from KazNU was invited to Harvard University (USA) and successfully worked under a contract as a visiting researcher.
Arystanbek Akylbay's path to science began at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, which he entered after graduating with honors from School-Gymnasium №40, earning the "Altyn Belgi" distinction. After mastering the Chinese language, Arystanbek enrolled at Shanghai University of International Studies on a full scholarship from the Chinese government. During his studies in Shanghai, he not only explored China but also studied the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, participating in events and conferences in South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore.
After successfully defending his master's thesis in English, the young scholar returned to his homeland. He joined the Ministry of Public Development in Astana on a competitive basis, working as an expert in international co-operation, and later as an expert in the Youth Policy Coordination Department of the Committee for Youth and Family Affairs at the Ministry of Information and Public Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Within the walls of his alma mater, Arystanbek gained invaluable teaching experience, lecturing on various subjects, ranging from the history and foreign policy of China to the global regional processes of Asian countries.
Admission to the doctoral program of the Faculty of Oriental Studies opened the way for Arystanbek to Harvard, where he conducted research on the topic "The evolution of Singapore's statehood: meritocracy and modernization (experience for Kazakhstan)".
And finally, Arystanbek was able to make a new breakthrough by enrolling in Oxford. He went to the UK, where he will begin studying regional studies at the Oxford School of Global and Regional Studies. Upon graduation, Arystanbek will receive the status of an associate graduate of Oxford University.
