KazNU students took part in the eco-action
Students of the Law Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University together with the Ecohab of Almaty held a significant social event as part of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
KazNU volunteers have attracted the participation of special needs of the rehabilitation center "Meirim". A group of activists led by Sandugash Darkhanovna, a lecturer at the Department of Theory of State and Law at the Faculty of Law of KazNU, visited the Eco-Hub in Almaty, took part in sorting garbage, and got acquainted with the recycling process.
Participants of the event learned a lot of useful information about how to maintain ecological cleanliness and how waste recycling contributes to achieving sustainable development goals. On-site, they saw a variety of modern recycling equipment, which is highly effective and has a positive impact on the environment.
The "EcoHub" project is a promising initiative by eco-activists in the city, led by Evgeny Mukhamedzhanov. Several spaces in Almaty are available where anyone can bring waste, such as plastic containers, shampoo bottles, glass bottles, and more. With the help of special equipment, various souvenirs are made from the waste on-site, including scented candles, trivets, and wall clocks shaped like the symbol of Almaty – the apple. The goal of the project is to cultivate a culture of mandatory waste sorting and to instill the values of careful environmental stewardship.
