The gender classification factor of language
On January 29, 2025, Anuar Gulshat, the first-year :PhD student of "Foreign Philology" major, conducted a curatorial hour on the topic: "The factor of gender classification of language" for the third-year students majoring in "Foreign Philology" within the framework of 5 SDG "Gender equality". The senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation, advisor of the group G. Dairabekova was present at the event.
During the event, it was emphasized that during the analysis of the manifestation of gender relations in language and speech, gender is often recognized as a sociolinguistic and pragmatic factor. The ways to learn these issues have and to move to more extensive research were offered. You can study other areas of linguistics, vocabulary and grammar, problems of the theory of relations (reference) between a linguistic symbol and a speaker, linguodidactics and linguoculturology, the history of language, psycholinguistics from a gender perspective and obtain significant data for linguistics. Linguistic consciousness is primarily considered to be images of consciousness expressed through linguistic means, that is, words, phraseological units, texts, an associative field, as well as an associative thesaurus as a set of this field. By defining the associative meaning of a word, it is possible to determine the pattern of structuring the image of the world in the linguistic consciousness of a person, analyze the mental characteristics of humanity and find out the connection with the gender component. And these important issues of gender linguistics mentioned above suggest that language can determine the factor of gender classification and thus recognize a nation. It is known that this knowledge is necessary for future specialists studying English philology.
The students liked the problems raised at the event. They were given the opportunity to discuss this topic and express their opinions. The event was held in Kazakh and English.
