Women scientists were awarded at KazNU

On February 11, a ceremonial gathering was held at Al-Farabi KazNU dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, where women scientists who have been successfully working at the university were awarded.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev congratulated all the women who made a special contribution to the development of national science.

In his speech, the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, noted: "In Kazakhstan, all conditions have been created for women. In every field, the professional qualifications and responsibility of women are clearly evident. I am confident that the creative qualities and energy of women will contribute to the progress of the new Kazakhstan". Women scientists hold a special place at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Every year, more and more young women focus on their studies and research. "Your professional skills, strong character, and hard work make a significant contribution to the development of various branches of science" said the university leader.

Currently, out of 2,475 professors and researchers, 1,772 are women. This makes up 71% of the total number of scientists at the university.

Out of 647 doctors of sciences at the university, 383 are women; out of 697 candidates of sciences, 498 are women; out of 588 PhD doctors, 391 are women; and there is 1 academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 3 corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Kazakhstan who are women scientists.

During the event, several women scientists were awarded letters of appreciation from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, for their achievements in advancing science, as well as state awards, including the "Shapagat" medal. Additionally, women scientists were honored with the departmental award dedicated to the language sector in Kazakhstan, the "Ahmet Baitursynuly" badge, letters of appreciation from the rector, and medals from KazNU for "Exceptional Work" and "Farabi" gold medals.
