TechWomen is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and has been implemented since 2011 with the support of the Institute of International Education (IIE). The program is designed to support, connect, and empower women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from Africa, Central and South Asia, and the Middle East. Participation in TechWomen provides women with access to international experience, professional opportunities, and essential resources for career growth. The program inspires women and girls to develop in STEM fields, facilitates knowledge exchange, and strengthens professional networks on a global scale. The key components of TechWomen include mentorship and international exchange, which help participants enhance their skills, connect with like-minded professionals, and achieve professional success. As part of the program, women scientists and specialists engage with accomplished professionals, explore the best practices of leading global companies, and receive support in implementing their projects.

The TechWomen presentation at KazNU was held under the auspices of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 5 – "Gender Equality," emphasizing the importance of equal opportunities for women in science and technology.
