The Department of Middle East and South Asia took part in a meeting with employers, which was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies within the framework of the SDG "Partnership for Sustainable Development"

The Department of Middle East and South Asia participated in the regular meeting of the Employers' Council held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on February 18, 2025, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals. The meeting was conducted in both offline and online formats.
As invited guests, the meeting was attended by the Director of the Cultural Center at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty, Mr. Hossein Aghazadeh, as well as a representative of "Leela Internationals" LLP, Mrs. Stadnichenko A.N.
During the session, the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Yem N.B., delivered a welcoming speech and introduced the guests to the activities of the faculty. The Head of the Department of Middle East and South Asia, Kokeyeva D.M., spoke about the process of increasing the number of students and presented a corresponding report.
Among the employers, the first speaker was Mr. Hossein Aghazadeh, Director of the Cultural Center at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In his speech, he particularly emphasized the importance of training specialists in the field of Oriental Studies, especially in Iranian Studies. Mr. Aghazadeh expressed his readiness to provide comprehensive support to students and faculty members interested in Iranian Studies and proposed several specific initiatives aimed at enhancing their professional qualifications. In particular, he stated that full support would be provided to increase the number of students specializing in Iranian Studies. He also offered students the opportunity to take free language courses in Iran, funded by the Iranian government. Additionally, he highlighted the necessity of fair and equal distribution of educational grants among Eastern languages.
Such meetings contribute to the professional development of students, allowing them to establish close connections with potential employers, arrange internships, and expand employment opportunities. Moreover, these events are aimed at strengthening cooperation between academic departments and employers.
During the session, several pressing issues were discussed, including increasing the number of students, improving internship bases, facilitating employment for graduates, and enhancing scholarships and other forms of student support.
As a result of the meeting, all proposals were taken into account, concrete steps were outlined to address the identified issues, and an agreement was reached on further developing partnerships between employers and academic departments.
