On March 6, 2025, the Expert Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan: Current Trends and Prospects" took place in Astana. The Embassy of Japan organized this event in the Republic of Kazakhstan in collaboration with the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KISI) and Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU). The event gathered leading experts from Central Asian countries and Japan, as well as representatives of the scientific and diplomatic communities.

One of the active participants in the dialogue was Nurseitova Laila, a PhD Student at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU). During the event, participants discussed key issues of interaction between Japan and Central Asian countries, the prospects for developing bilateral cooperation, and strengthening partnership relations.

Key Japanese experts attended the Expert Dialogue in Kazakhstan: the Director of the Japan Institute of International Affairs Tomoyuki YOSHIDA and Professor of the Slavic-Eurasian Research Center at Hokkaido University, Tomohiko Uyama. They presented an analytical perspective on current trends and long-term challenges in the region.

The event addressed the following key topics

Architecture of cooperation between Central Asia and Japan;

Japan's transport and technological synergy;

Digital solutions in the fields of GovTech and FinTech;

Sustainable cities and environmental principles;

Expert base and long-term challenges in developing partnership relations.

The Expert Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan" confirmed the high level of interaction between the region’s countries and Japan, as well as identified promising areas of cooperation in the fields of economy, technology, and sustainable development.

The event organizers expressed confidence that such meetings contribute to further strengthening bilateral ties and fostering knowledge and experience exchange between experts and representatives of the academic community.
