SDG-4: Students Watched the Play Qara Shekpen

Students of our university's Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty visited the G. Musrepov State Academic Theater for Children and Youth to watch the play Qara Shekpen.
The play was written by Georgy Khugaev and directed by Askhat Maemirov. Except for the Shepherd, all the characters in the play are animals. The story revolves around Tuzar, a loyal guard dog, with other characters including a wolf, a rabbit, a fox, a donkey, a crow, sheep, and more. Built on human values, the play portrays the unwavering loyalty of Tuzar to his owner. Through his devoted service, the play explores contrasting themes such as love and friendship versus betrayal and faithfulness, which form its central message. The only difference between this play and a fairy tale is its ending. The story concludes with a heartbreaking moment when Tuzar, whose loyalty goes unappreciated, is killed by his own master. By choosing this tragic ending, G. Khugaev aims to highlight the bitter reality of today’s world. The fact that the owner kills his faithful dog without hesitation reflects our servile mentality and blind loyalty. The play serves as a mirror, exposing our lack of kindness and warmth toward those around us. It emphasizes that in today’s world, you are valued as long as you are strong, but easily discarded when you are no longer needed. The fate of Tuzar is proof that such sacrifices should no longer be made. As the curtain falls, one inevitable question lingers: "Why has humanity severed the roots of loyalty?"
Qara Shekpen is not just a story about animals—it is a contemporary play that highlights human values and moral dilemmas. At the end of the performance, students took commemorative photos, shared their impressions, and expressed that they gained great spiritual inspiration from this cultural event.
