Decent Work and Economic Growth – The Key to National Prosperity!

3 april, 2025

On April 3, the Department of the Far East held a curatorial session on the topic: Decent Work and Economic Growth.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proclaimed by the UN clearly reflect this interconnection, emphasizing the need to ensure decent working conditions for all and to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Decent work and economic growth represent the eighth goal out of the ten sustainable development goals set by our government. Therefore, decent work is the foundation of economic prosperity. Decent work is not just employment; it is work that provides fair wages, safe working conditions, social protection, freedom of association, and participation in decision-making.

Decent work is the basis of sustainable economic growth. It includes:

  • Ensuring fair wages and decent working conditions for all employees.
  • Creating opportunities for education and professional development to support career growth.
  • Supporting gender equality and inclusivity in the workplace.
  • Respecting workers' rights and freedom of association in trade unions.

Accordingly, economic growth enables the creation of decent jobs. Sustainable economic growth fosters a favorable environment for job creation and an improved standard of living. However, it is essential that this growth be inclusive and focused on creating decent jobs rather than merely increasing GDP.

Thus, the development of transport, energy, and communication infrastructure creates new business opportunities and ensures employment. Additionally, government support for small and medium-sized enterprises—through preferential loans, tax benefits, and streamlined administrative procedures—contributes to their development and job expansion.

The advancement of education and professional training ensures the preparation of qualified specialists who are in demand in the labor market.

The implementation of new technologies and innovations creates new economic sectors and job opportunities.
