Online Meeting between the Faculties of KazNU and LLP "Institute of High Technologies": Cooperation on Environmental Research in the Framework of SDG 13 and SDG 9

An online meeting was held with the participation of representatives from the Faculty of Physics and Technology and the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and representatives of LLP "Institute of High Technologies" (a subsidiary of NAC "Kazatomprom").

The meeting's purpose was to discuss prospective scientific directions in environmental protection, aligned with the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan's priority goals and the global agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The following topics were discussed during the meeting:

  • Development and implementation of new environmental monitoring methods;
  • Scientific support of environmental condition assessments;
  • Comprehensive analysis of long-term monitoring data and real-time environmental observations;
  • Enhancing ecological sustainability through the application of digital technologies.

Participants of the meeting included:
Representatives of the Environmental Design and Monitoring Center of LLP "Institute of High Technologies";
Vice Deans for Research and International Cooperation of both faculties;
Director of the Research Institute of Experimental and Theoretical Physics (RIETP);
Faculty members of the Faculty of Physics and Technology.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to prepare two joint research project proposals aimed at addressing environmental challenges and promoting technological sustainability in the energy sector.

🔹 SDG 13 – Climate Action: through initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact
🔹 SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: through the development of scientific and engineering solutions in environmental monitoring and sustainable energy

The faculties will continue actively contributing to shaping a scientific agenda supporting national priorities and global sustainable development goals.
