Chess Tournament Dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of Victory: A Game of Memory and Courage.

On April 30, 2025, the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Forensics, together with the student volunteer club "Shapagat", held a chess tournament in honor of the great anniversary — the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The event brought together students and faculty under the banners of remembrance, patriotism, and intellectual unity. The tournament was held in an atmosphere of deep respect for the heroic deeds of those who defended freedom and peace. It became not only a battle of minds, but also a tribute to the heroes of the past: each move on the chessboard served as a reminder of discipline, strategic thinking, and resilience — qualities essential both on the battlefield and at the chessboard. The tournament was opened with welcoming remarks from the organizer, Head of the Department, R.E. Zhansaraeva, who emphasized the symbolic connection between chess and military tactics. Special attention was given to historical memory — before the matches began, excerpts from wartime letters were read aloud, a short video about war heroes was shown, and a moment of silence honored the price of Victory. Such events are important not only as sports competitions but also as a bridge between the past and the present. They strengthen the connection between generations and foster a sense of gratitude and national pride in the younger generation. The chess tournament dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory served as a powerful reminder: memory lives on as long as we preserve it through our actions, our words, and our worthy traditions.
