The faculty members of the Department of Chinese Studies participated in the First Central Asian Forum of Sinologists.

On May 21, 2025, the First Central Asian Forum of Sinologists was held in Almaty. The event was organized by the "Belt and Road" Scientific and Educational Center in collaboration with the World Center for Sinology (PRC) and the Sinologists’ Association of Almaty. The forum brought together leading scholars and experts from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.

Dinara Bakytkereikyzy Dauen, Associate Professor of the Department of Chinese Studies and Chair of the Sinologists’ Association of Almaty, was one of the main organizers of the forum. At the plenary session, Professor Nurzhamal Abdirazakovna Aldabek and Professor Nabizhan Mukhametkhanuly presented their research. The plenary session was moderated by Acting Professor Fatimabibi Nogaevna Daulet. Panel sessions were led by Department Head Yerzhan Kerimbaev and Associate Professor Daniyar Madiyev, who also presented their papers.

The forum addressed a broad range of topics, including the history and methodology of sinology, Chinese language education, cultural relations, the work of Confucius Institutes, and diplomatic aspects. It served as a vital platform for academic dialogue and regional cooperation in Chinese studies.

KazNU’s active participation in the forum underscores the university’s academic strength and its leading role in the development of Oriental and Chinese studies in Kazakhstan.
