Online Meeting with GUNT Representatives: Advancing Engineering Education and Promoting Sustainable Development (SDG 4 and SDG 9)

An online meeting was held on the Zoom platform between representatives of G.U.N.T. Gerätebau GmbH (Germany) and faculty members of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, and Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
GUNT is a global leader in the development and supply of educational laboratory equipment for engineering education. The company offers a wide range of teaching units in fields such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, automation, mechanical systems, and heat transfer—actively used in university teaching programs.
During the meeting, the following key points were discussed:
-
the current needs of university departments for modernization and renewal of laboratory equipment;
-
the potential supply of GUNT educational systems for areas including heat physics, mechanics, chemical technology, and automation;
-
opportunities for cooperation in upgrading laboratories, training academic staff, and integrating equipment into the curriculum;
-
participation in joint international educational and research projects, including student-driven initiatives.
Particular attention was given to localization of technical documentation, training of instructors in operating new systems, and the preparation of highly qualified specialists with modern engineering competencies.
GUNT representatives delivered a comprehensive presentation on their equipment, technical features, and areas of application. They also demonstrated video materials and answered participants’ questions.
The partnership under discussion was highlighted for its contribution to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably:
-
SDG 4 – Quality Education: by modernizing educational infrastructure and incorporating innovative learning tools;
-
SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: by promoting engineering solutions and supporting technical education of students.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed mutual interest in continuing collaboration and agreed to explore concrete steps such as pilot deliveries and identifying priority areas for departmental cooperation.
