Al-Farabi KazNU – Winner of the Erasmus+ Programme!

As a result of the international competition held within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme 2025, the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has won with the project "MECAS" (No. 101237042).

The project has been supported under the Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) strand. Two key departments of the faculty are jointly involved in the implementation: the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development and the Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics. This success once again confirms the university's strong position in the international scientific and educational arena.

The coordinator of the new educational programme being developed under the project is PhD Erkin Khamitovich Kakimzhanov.

The first major event within the project was a seminar held on July 28, 2025, at the premises of KazNU. The seminar was conducted by Asiya Tureniyazova, a professor at Nukus State Technical University and a project partner. The meeting focused on discussing the project's objectives, implementation stages, and key issues of international cooperation.
