On September 6, in Almaty, a vibrant cultural event took place — the Writers and Contemporary Creativity Festival, with Yandex Books as its general partner. First-year students of the Department of Chinese Studies participated in the event together with their curators.

The festival brought together literature, art, and creative industries, offering visitors a rich program from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Students attended the book exhibition and publishers’ alley, presentations of new books by Kazakhstani and foreign authors, expert lectures and discussions, as well as poetry performances and musical shows.

Particular interest among students was sparked by meetings with the festival’s headliners — Ilya Kozhukhar, Rashid Nugmanov, Guzel Yakhina, and Alexander Prokopovich. Equally impressive were the performances of Meruert Alonso, Nuraina Satpayeva, Aigul Klinovskaya, Maria Omar, Ilya Odegov, Saule Kozhataeva, and other authors.

A special point of attraction was the “Terrace 451” stage, which hosted poetry and theatrical performances, creative meetups, and music sets. The festival’s atmosphere left a vivid impression on students, fostering their interest in literature, contemporary art, and cultural dialogue.
