The Presidential Address and a New Milestone in the Field of Education

8 september, 2025

Listening to this year's Address by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, we sensed not only the direction of the country's development but also a contemporary tone in the weight and style of the word. Every idea expressed by the Head of State is not just a political program; it resembles a spiritual signpost for the progressive steps of our national civilization.

For me, the most pertinent channel of the Address is the issue of developing education and science. Because for a teacher, education is not merely a profession but a phenomenon that determines the future destiny of the people.

The President's initiative to create a digital state is a natural continuation of today's civilizational process. In the era of artificial intelligence and new technologies, if we remain solely within the framework of traditional pedagogy, we risk narrowing the student's horizon. The task now is to merge digital culture and a humanitarian worldview. Because true knowledge lies not in a computing system but in a culture of thinking.

The Address particularly emphasized the need to bring science and production closer. This has always been one of the weak points of our education system. However lofty theory may be, if it does not connect with life, it cannot move beyond the pages of a textbook. And the natural breath of science is to serve the daily life of the people and the industrial power of the country. Therefore, the research within university walls must now translate into the practical experience of real enterprises. In this regard, every scientific project of a student should become a building block for the future economy.

Another point that gave me pause was the issue of financing the initiatives of young scientists. Indeed, in our classrooms, ideas that sparkle with potential sometimes emerge. But often, the lack of funding prevents that spark from turning into a flame. If banks and funds supported young endeavors, then science would become not just a dissertation on paper but a force that transforms society.

The President's speech also raised tasks for developing food security and logistics. This is a new opportunity for the younger generation. Because the digitalization of agriculture, improving the transport system, initiatives like "Smart Cargo" are not just economic projects but clear examples of applying knowledge at a new level.

In conclusion, the Address sounded to me not just as a political document but as an appeal dedicated to our teaching path. If every educator and scientist can hear and accept as a personal duty each of the thoughts expressed regarding the field of education, then the weight and result of the trust placed in us and the obligation bestowed upon us will become clearly defined.
