The international research conference "ISLAMOUS STUDIES IN KAZAKHSTAN AND MALAYSIA: COMMON CASES AND CURRENT ISSUES" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

On September 10, the first day of the international research conference "ISLAMOUS STUDIES IN KAZAKHSTAN AND MALAYSIA: COMMON CASES AND CURRENT ISSUES" was held at the Al-Farabi Library. It was organized by the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the University of Malaysia. The conference will be held from September 10 to 12. The purpose of this event is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals "Quality Education" and "Partnership for Sustainable Development".

Conference participants: scientists from the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Almaty, Kazakhstan), the University of Malaya (Kuala Lumpur) and other universities in Malaysia, Istanbul University (Turkey) and other universities.

On the first day, conference guests visited the Al-Farabi Center, the Al-Farabi Museum and the Rare Manuscripts Fund, as well as a specially organized book exhibition. The exhibition presented works by domestic and foreign scientists.

The conference was opened by the moderator, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science Bekzhan Berikbayuly Meirbayev. He noted that the purpose of the conference is to conduct a comparative analysis of the development of Islamic studies in Kazakhstan and Malaysia, identifying common features and differences.

At the plenary session, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University - First Vice-Rector Erkin Ermanuly Duisenov delivered a welcoming speech. Erkin Ermanuly congratulated all conference participants and noted the importance of scientific ties between the two countries. The results of the partnership between the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi and leading universities in Malaysia, joint scientific projects and academic exchanges were presented.

Dean of the Faculty of the University of Malaya, Professor Mohd Fauzi Hamat, delivered a welcoming speech and highly appreciated the hospitality and organizational work of KazNU. He noted the relevance of the conference in the study of Islamic civilization and emphasized the importance of scientific cooperation between Kazakhstan and Malaysia.

Vice-Rector of the University of Islamic Culture "Nur-Mubarak" in Egypt Yershat Ongar Agybayuly noted the international nature of the event and the importance of Islamic studies. He is confident that the rapprochement of the unique experience of the two countries will raise science to a new level.

In turn, the head of the Department of Religious Affairs of Almaty Nurlan Medsantuly Kikymov drew attention to the importance of today's event in the development of interfaith relations. During the event, Deputy Chairman of the Board - First Vice-Rector Duisenov Erkin Ermanuly awarded the Head of the Department of Islamic History, Civilization and Education of the University of Malaya, Doctor, Professor Mohd Ruslan Mohd Nor with the «Ерен еңбегі үшін»  medal for his contribution to the development of cooperation between the two educational institutions.

In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed between KazNU and the University of Malaya, which opens the way for future joint projects, academic exchanges and scientific partnerships.

This conference will contribute to the further development of cooperation between the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi and the University of Malaya. As part of the event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed and a ceremony of exchanging memorable gifts was held.

At the plenary session, famous scientists from Kazakhstan and Malaysia made informative reports. During the conference, candidate of philosophical sciences, associate professor Bekzhan Meyrbayev made a report on the topic of "Religious studies and religious education in Kazakhstan: harmony of secularism and spirituality", noting the features of religious studies and religious education in accordance with the principles of secularism. Dean of the faculty of the University of Malaya, Professor Mohd Fauzi Hamat, raised the topic of "Modern Ummah: overcoming internal disagreements and external challenges and achieving a sustainable future". In addition, Professor Mohd Ruslan Mohd Nor in his report on the topic of "From the steppes to the straits: Kazakhstan and Malaysia in the context of Islamic civilization" focused on the historical and cultural continuity of the two countries. And the head of the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies, Professor Ainur Kurmanalieva, shared her thoughts on the topic of "The importance of training religious personnel for society". During the conference, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Chief Researcher of the Department of Religious Studies of the FGDI KS MDR RK Satershinov Bakytzhan Menlibekuly expressed confidence in the bright future of cooperation and scientific ties between Kazakhstan and Malaysia.

After the speeches, a question and answer session was held, the participants exchanged views and held a photo session.

The conference strengthened scientific ties between Kazakhstan and Malaysia and opened new areas of research in the field of Islamic studies
