PARTICIPATION IN THE "TAZA KAZAKHSTAN" CAMPAIGN

7 september, 2025

On September 6, 2025, second-year students of the CSaS program from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, together with their curator, took part in the “Taza Kazakhstan” (Clean Kazakhstan) campaign organized by the staff of the A.P. Chekhov City Library in the M. Makatayev Park.

For about a year and a half now, the people of Kazakhstan have been actively participating in the nationwide “Taza Kazakhstan” initiative. During this campaign, streets, alleys, parks, areas around historical and cultural monuments, as well as riverbanks and canals, are being cleared of litter. Scattered waste is collected and transported to designated disposal sites. Thousands of tons of garbage have been removed, improving the environment and urban landscapes. More and more people are showing awareness and care for nature.

Caring for the environment must become a way of life.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has stated: "We have no homeland other than Kazakhstan. No one will come and clean or beautify our native land for us. Keeping our country clean is a sacred duty of every citizen."

Therefore, environmental awareness and ecological culture are crucial for our society. When each person pays attention to the cleanliness of their surroundings and contributes to environmental protection, the ecological situation in our country will improve, providing a brighter future for the younger generation. By participating in this campaign, residents contribute to environmental protection and the improvement of their city's ecological condition.

The participation of students from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics in the "Taza Kazakhstan" campaign aligns with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – by cleaning city parks, alleys, and historical sites, students contribute to creating a clean, safe, and livable urban environment. SDG 13: Climate Action – proper waste management and the promotion of ecological culture help reduce the impacts of climate change. SDG 15: Life on Land – cleaning green spaces and riverbanks helps preserve biodiversity and supports the resilience of local ecosystems.

The students who actively participated in today's initiative came away with a clear understanding that protecting nature is a responsibility of every student.
