A Step into University Life: The First Lesson on Student Ethics

On September 16, 2025, a curator’s session on the topic “Adapting to University Life and Student Ethics” was held for the first-year students of the 6B01704 – Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages major. The event was conducted by PhD in Philology, Senior Lecturer of the Department of “Turkology and Language Theory,” Medetbekova P.T.
The main goal of the session was to familiarize freshmen with the structure of the university, internal regulations, and the specifics of the educational process, as well as to support their adaptation to the new environment. In addition, issues of developing student ethics and culture, fostering responsibility, and mutual respect were discussed.
During the meeting, the students were presented with interesting facts about the history and traditions of the university, and the importance of academic integrity was explained in detail. Special attention was given to the harm of plagiarism and cheating, as well as the necessity of fair examination practices. Students’ rights and responsibilities were illustrated with specific examples, while strategies for effective time management and the development of independent learning skills were also covered.
The session further addressed topics such as communication culture within the student community and maintaining psychological well-being. As part of a practical activity, students participated in the exercise “My Student Goals,” where they shared their personal objectives and future plans.
The curator’s session proved to be both meaningful and useful. Students showed active participation, took their first steps toward adapting to the new environment, and gained a deeper understanding of the requirements and values of university life.
