A lecture "Opportunities for young researchers to receive a National Geographic grant" was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which was delivered by Dr. Yannick Kuhl, Executive Director for the Asia-Pacific Region of the National Geographic Society.
He spoke about the mission of the 137-year-old organization aimed at preserving the ecosystem and supporting research initiatives on nature, culture and sustainable development. According to Dr. Kuhl, in recent years, the National Geographic Society has implemented more than 15,000 projects in 83 countries, published numerous scientific articles in 24 languages, and created unique photographic materials. All these materials are widely used for scientific and educational purposes.

The organization's main areas of work include protecting the ocean and land, conducting scientific research, creating scientific maps, studying biodiversity and preserving cultural heritage.
The speaker also spoke in detail about the possibilities of obtaining a grant. The project should be relevant and make a meaningful contribution to the study of the chosen topic. He noted the importance of an interdisciplinary approach and the practical value of research. Experts pay special attention to environmental issues and initiatives in the field of sustainable development.

Dr. Kuhl also presented the official website of the National Geographic Society and recommended that students and young researchers carefully study the materials and approach projects with scientific validity. In conclusion, the lecturer answered the audience's questions.
