KazNU lecturers took part in an international conference
The Faculty of Law, Department of Civil and Labour Law, Karaganda National Research University named after Academician E.A. Buketov held an international scientific and practical conference on the topic ‘Legal regulation of solid waste management in the context of sustainable development goals: challenges and prospects’ in an online/offline format.
The event was organised as part of grant project No. AR23490668 ‘Recycling and disposal of solid waste: legal issues and prospects’.
The aim of the conference was to comprehensively discuss legal issues of solid waste management in the context of implementing sustainable development goals, as well as to search for effective legal, institutional and economic mechanisms that contribute to the formation of an environmentally responsible and sustainable approach to waste management.
The conference topics are relevant to the present day, as waste management issues are closely linked to ensuring environmental safety, implementing the concept of sustainable development and protecting citizens' rights to a favourable environment.
The forum brought together scientists and practitioners from Kazakhstan (the Centre for Agricultural Issues, Ecology and Environmental Legislation, the Institute of Parliamentarism, the Department of Ecology of the Zhetysu Region, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Caspian Public University, Sh. Yesenov Caspian University of Technology and Engineering, I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu University, Astana International University (MUA), Turan University, M.H. Dulati Taraz University, Karaganda Economic University, Alikhan Bokeikhan University, Miras University, Public Chamber of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, International Arbitration of Kazakhstan, Alau Consulting LLP), Russia (Novosibirsk National Research State University, St. Petersburg University of Management and Economics), Poland (Gdansk University), Uzbekistan (Tashkent State Law University, Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of Legal Personnel under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan), Tajikistan (Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University) and Ukraine (Institute of Management, Technology and Law of the National Transport University, Kyiv).
Representatives of the younger generation – students, master's and doctoral candidates – were actively involved in the conference. The research presented covered a wide range of issues, from legislative initiatives to international and financial law, property and liability issues, e-waste, cross-border resources and the formation of a green economy.
