Within the framework of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), an open lecture was held on the topic “Morality and Health: The Importance of Animal Sterilization.”
On October 31, 2025, an event was held by Senior Lecturer of the Department of Botany and Agroecology, K.T. Abidkulova, and Associate Professor of the Department of Zoology, Histology and Cytology, A.S. Akmullayeva, with first-year doctoral students majoring in Biology and Geobotany.
The event took place within the framework of UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities – Humane Regulation of Animal Populations for a Safe Urban Environment.”
The lecture, titled “Humanity and Health: Why Animal Sterilization Is Important,” was delivered by Dinara Zhakupova, a veterinary doctor, animal welfare volunteer, and representative of INU FOUNDATION (@shiba_help_kz).
The lecturer explained the importance of sterilizing and neutering pets, dispelled common myths about the procedures, and emphasized their role in preventing the increase of stray dog and cat populations. Dinara also shared information about the activities of @inufoundation.kz (@shiba_help_kz), an organization engaged in rescuing, treating, and rehoming Shiba Inu and Akita Inu dogs.
Doctoral students took an active part in the discussion, asked questions, and showed great interest in the topic of humane treatment of animals.
