As part of the UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 “Quality Education” and within the implementation of the practice-oriented learning approach, the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Criminology of the Faculty of Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University continues to actively introduce innovative forms of education. One of these initiatives involves conducting field-based practical sessions at specialized training centers and institutions aimed at integrating theoretical knowledge with practical skills.

On October 6, 2025, Senior Lecturer N.S. Temirbolat conducted an off-site training session for 4th-year students of the Jurisprudence educational program in the discipline “Operational-Investigative Activities” at the Special Training Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The goal of the session was to consolidate theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills in forensic training. This initiative aligns fully with the objectives of UN SDG 4, aimed at ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.

During the session, students, under the guidance of experienced instructors, became acquainted with various types of firearms, the dynamics of bullet flight, the influence of external factors, and methods for predicting trajectories. Special attention was given to the principles of identifying shot traces and understanding damage formation — key aspects of ballistic examination.

The practical part of the training took place using the technical facilities of the training center. Students practiced safe handling of firearms while strictly adhering to safety regulations during exercises.

Such practical training contributes to the development of professional competencies, analytical thinking, and the ability of future lawyers to apply theoretical knowledge in real law enforcement contexts.

The Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Criminology of the Faculty of Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University continues to enhance practice-oriented teaching methods in line with global educational standards and the principles of UN SDG 4 “Quality Education”, ensuring the training of highly qualified professionals capable of upholding legality and maintaining public order.
