A Citywide Scholarly and Methodological Seminar on New Trends in Teaching Chinese Was Held

     On December 9, 2025, Associate Professor of the Department of Chinese Studies, experienced methodologist and researcher Fatimabibi Nogaykyzy Daulet conducted a citywide scholarly and methodological seminar titled “Modern Methods of Teaching Chinese: Key Trends in Kazakhstan, China, and the Global Educational Space.” The seminar was held in a hybrid format—both offline and online—and brought together approximately 50 participants from various higher education institutions and specialized educational organizations across the country, including lecturers, young specialists, doctoral candidates, and master’s students. In addition to faculty members of the School of Oriental Studies, colleagues from leading universities in Almaty, representing the fields of foreign languages, Oriental studies, and Chinese studies, took part in the event, underscoring its scale and significance. Fatimabibi Nogaykyzy is a well-recognized scholar who regularly participates in international scholarly and methodological conferences and training programs, systematically enriching her expertise through global professional practices. Her research interests include Chinese language pedagogy, intercultural communication, language policy, and innovative educational technologies. During the seminar, the speaker presented a comprehensive overview of current global trends in foreign language education, linking them with her extensive pedagogical experience. The seminar also addressed a number of key issues, including international standards for Chinese language teaching and the updated HSK framework, modern instructional materials and localization strategies, innovative pedagogical approaches, models for enhancing teachers’ professional competence, as well as the role of academic research and technological innovation in advancing the field. Topics such as big data, artificial intelligence, corpus-based linguodidactics, and multilingual education generated particular interest among participants. At the conclusion of the seminar, attendees actively exchanged views, shared their experiences, and discussed practical solutions to current challenges in the teaching process. The discussion unfolded in a dynamic and engaging atmosphere, reflecting the strong commitment of the professional community to collaborative development. Overall, the seminar was distinguished by its depth of content and practical relevance, providing participants with up-to-date and insightful information on contemporary approaches to teaching Chinese.
