Enhancing the Psychological Competence of Academic Advisors Working with Students

On January 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., a practical master seminar aimed at enhancing the psychological competence of academic advisors working with students was held in Conference Hall 409 of the Library of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The seminar was organized within the framework of social and educational activities, in accordance with SDGs 3, 4, and 10, and as part of the Winter School for Curators.

The seminar was conducted by research psychologist, Associate Professor Kalymbetova Elmira Keneskizi, and Senior Lecturer Iliyassova Aigul Amangeldikyzy.

The seminar was titled “Prevention of Suicidal Behavior in the Student Environment and Its Mechanisms.” Its objective was to develop practical competencies related to fostering resilience and effective coping strategies among young people, as well as recognizing stressful and crisis situations, including the risk of suicidal behavior.

Participants included representatives of the Department of Economics: Candidate of Economic Sciences, Senior Advisor D.R. Turarov, and academic group advisor I.U. Kuliev.
