KazNU Students Completed Industrial Training at LUKOIL Lubricants Central Asia
Long-term, mutually beneficial, and systematic partnership relations have been established between the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Limited Liability Partnership “Lukoil Lubricants Central Asia,” which holds a leading position in the lubricants market of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This cooperation is aimed at integrating the educational process with industrial practice, enhancing the professional competencies of future specialists, and ensuring their successful adaptation to the demands of the modern labor market.
Within the framework of implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 4 — “Quality Education,” SDG 8 — “Decent Work and Economic Growth,” and SDG 9 — “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure,” fourth-year students of the educational program “Chemical Technology of Organic Substances” completed their industrial training in February–March 2026 at the production facilities of “LUKOIL Lubricants Central Asia” and also participated in an ознакомительная экскурсия to a modern plant specializing in the production of lubricating materials.
During the industrial training, students gained comprehensive insight into the operation of a high-tech robotic production workshop, the storage and logistics system for finished products, as well as the activities of a modern quality control laboratory operating in accordance with international standards. This visit enabled students to correlate theoretical knowledge with real industrial processes and significantly broaden their engineering and technological outlook.
In his address, company representative S.S. Barbashov noted the high potential of cooperation between the university and the company, emphasizing the wide opportunities for completing industrial and pre-graduation internships at the enterprise. He also stated that, upon successful completion of the training and taking into account the scientific and technical potential of the students, the company is prepared to consider the possibility of further employment of graduates.
The joint event clearly demonstrated the effectiveness of practice-oriented education in training future specialists in the field of chemical technology and once again confirmed the importance of close interaction between higher education institutions and the industrial sector.
