The Harm of Destructive Religious Movements on Youth and Public Order
On March 18, 2026, in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 16 “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” and 17 “Partnerships for the Goals,” the Department of Economics organized an educational event for faculty students on the topic “The Harm of Destructive Religious Movements on Youth and Public Order.”
During the event, the principles of Kazakhstan as a secular state, issues of improving religious literacy, and ways to prevent the influence of destructive religious movements were comprehensively discussed.
A meaningful presentation was delivered by Acting Associate Professor of the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science, PhD Tungatova Ulzhan Askarbayevna. In her speech, she highlighted the key characteristics of destructive religious movements, emphasizing their dangerous aspects, such as the rejection of national values, traditions, and state symbols.
As part of the event, statistics on religious associations in Kazakhstan were presented, along with opportunities for obtaining official religious education, including at Nur-Mubarak University and literacy courses at mosques.
Such informative events contribute to fostering patriotism among young people and strengthening legal culture.
