27 february, 2023

Students of the Department of Japanese Studies of the Far East Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies on 23.02.2023 got acquainted with the Japanese art of “shedo", calligraphy. Calligraphy is a visual art related to writing and is the design and execution of lettering with a pen, ink brush, or other writing instrument. Tatibana Satora, a student of Sofia University of Japan, who studied this art in his country for 7 years, showed students of the Department of Japanese Studies the spelling of the words “Kazakhstan” and the names of students in Japanese hieroglyphs (kanji).

Students also tried to write various hieroglyphs in the style of calligraphy, using paint and brushes specially used for this type of art.

We would like to recall that 31 Japanese students came to the Faculty of Oriental Studies for 3 weeks to study under the “Winter School" program.
