KazNU is preparing to open a branch of the Chinese University
Within the framework of the state visit of the Head of State Kasym-Jomart Tokayev to the People's Republic of China in May this year, an agreement was signed on opening a branch of the North-West Polytechnic University in KazNU.
Today Chairman of the Board - Rector of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi Zhanseit Tuimebayev held a meeting with the delegation headed by Vice-President of Northwest Polytechnic University Zhen Jianyu, who visited the educational institution with a working visit and discussed issues on the establishment of the branch.
The delegation included Don Wenqiang, Director of the Institute of Culture and Heritage, Cheng Zhong, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Office, Sun Ao, Head of the International School of Academic Department, Wang Yitong, Project Manager of the International School.
At the meeting, Rector Zhanseit Tuimebaev noted that it is necessary to speed up the opening of the branch of Northwestern Polytechnic University in KazNU and qualitatively fulfill all the necessary work.
"In KazNU named after Al-Farabi last year was opened a branch of National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, the university already has experience in creating a branch. In the near future it is necessary to accelerate the opening of the branch of the North-West Polytechnic University in KazNU and start the implementation of common educational programs. Currently active work is being done, classrooms are being prepared, a department will be created, faculty is being formed. It is also important to accelerate the work that will be done by your side. This will be a historic event, because this is the first branch to be opened in Kazakhstan together with China," the rector said.
In turn, Vice President of Northwestern Polytechnic University Zheng Jianyu informed about how the Chinese side is preparing for the opening of the branch.
"During the visit to Al-Farabi KazNU we received information about the educational institution and familiarized ourselves with the scientific infrastructure. The opening of the branch is a responsible work for both parties. Our specialists are trying to speed it up. By the time of the opening of the branch, teachers for some educational programs will already start classes," - said Zheng Jianyu.
It is worth noting that Northwestern Polytechnic University is located in Xi'an. The university, which has more than 36 thousand students, has educational and research programs of technical direction: aeronautics, astronautics, marine engineering and others.
Northwestern Polytechnic University is one of the leading technical universities in China. It is ranked in the top 200 in the international Academic Ranking of World Universities 2023, in the top 600 - in THE 2023 and U.S. ranking. 333rd place in the international ranking NEWS 2023. Nobel Prize winners in physics Li Zhengdao and chemistry Harold Croteau Walter emerged from the renowned institution.
Students from Kazakhstan and Central Asia will study in the branch, which opens in KazNU. After graduation, the graduates will be awarded diplomas of the two universities.
