Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted various events dedicated to Republic Day. For example, on the eve of the national holiday, the country's youth launched the Republic Day holiday challenge. The purpose of the action is to reveal and popularize the importance of the national holiday among young people, to tell about the achievements of young people and their contribution to the development of the country. Al-Farabi KazNU students actively took part in this event. In addition, on October 21, 2023, an agricultural fair of the University Educational Agricultural Laboratory and Zhambyl district of Almaty region was held on the territory of the university’s aquaponics. Agricultural products and handicrafts were presented at the fair. On October 24, 2023, the solemn meeting dedicated to the Day of Republic was held at Omirbek Dzholdasbekov Palace of Students. During the festive evening, the lecturers were awarded, and concert program continued the event.
On the Day of Republic the lecturers of the Faculty of Philology of Akhmet Baitursynuly Department of Kazakh Linguistics, Sarsenbay Zh.A. and the lecturers of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature, Kayyrbek M.N., and Ospan A.O. together with the 1st year students of the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Medicine and Health, made a trip to the house-museum of Akhmet Baitursynuly, the spiritual leader of the Alash Movement, statesman and public figure, poet, and scholar. In the museum the students were able to know about his life and creative work.
The purpose of this event was to acquaint the students with the literary works of the outstanding people of Kazakhstan and to study them according to modern requirements, that is very important for future specialists. The event was also aimed at explaining students the necessity of analyzing the history of the past. The organizers wanted the students to remember the past of their country and learn lessons from it. Another goal of the event was to introduce foreign students to the life and the work of Akhmet Baitursynuly, Kazakh intellectual, educator, who possessed a strong national spirit and whose name is usually connected with Kazakh culture.
The students asked the museum employee questions and received a lot of valuable information. The museum employee who conducted the tour told about the place of birth, origin, family members, creative, pedagogical, literary and political activities of Akhmet Baitursynuly. In particular, from the period when the public figure began teaching children in the periods when he was a victum of political repressions. He also showed the copies of textbooks “Sauat Ashu”, “Oku Kuraly”, “Til Kuraly”, “Alipbi” and others, based on various problems of the people, art and education, emphasizing the place of the scientist’s works in Kazakh science. The students saw archival materials (the soil from the land of the birthplace, wormwood, household items, a typewriter and musical instruments), various documents, handwritten heritage, photographs, rare books related to the life of a historical person placed in the halls of the house-museum and produced an unforgettable impression on the visitors.
