SDG 12. Responsible consumption and production

On October 24, 2023, in dormitory No.17, Dairabekova G.K., the lecturer in the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies held an educational event with the 2nd year students of Foreign Philology major. During the event, she explained the main idea of “SDG 12. Responsible consumption and production” to the students. In particular she made a focus on economical way of using energy in the dormitory.
Nowadays, it is impossible to imagine human life without electricity. We get the most of our energy from natural resources. Coal, oil and gas are non-renewable minerals. We must remember that one day everything will end, so it is necessary to follow the rules for utilizing household appliances and turn off all gadgets and appliances when they are not used, especially those ones that consume a lot of electricity: electric stoves and kitchen appliances. As any device connected to current consumes a lot of electricity, even when it does not work. When purchasing new appliances, pay attention to energy efficiency labels. The lecturer recommended the students to find 1 day during a week not to employ gadgets, TV, laptop, smartphone. On that day they should go for a walk, read books, communicate with family and friends and do sports activities.
The energy of any country is a decisive factor in the progress of its economy, and in certain cases, the level of well-being of citizens, or gives impetus to its development.
