Book fair in partnership with the publishing house “Qazyna” as part of the implementation of the UN SDG to ensure quality education

On November 14, 2023, a book fair of the “Qazyna” publishing house was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The initiators and organizers of the fair on the part of the University were 3rd year doctoral students of the Department of Turkology and Language Theory of the Faculty of Philology under the guidance of associate professor Tausogarova Ayauzhan Kairatovna and Deputy Head of the Department for scientific-innovational activity and international cooperation Dosanova Albina Maratkhanovna.
This event was held as part of the implementation of the 4th UN Sustainable Development Goal, which aims at the provision of equitable quality lifelong education. One of the targets for achieving this Goal 4 by 2030 is to ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development. The organizers of the fair believe that books from the “Qazyna” publishing house contribute to personal and professional development, as well as the formation of a global mindset among university students.
It is noteworthy that all books of the “Qazyna” publishing house were sold to all bachelor, master and doctoral students of the University with a 20% discount. Not only students, but also representatives of the University teaching and administrative staff acted as active book buyers. Moreover, a quiz was organized among buyers on the page of the publishing house “Qazyna” on their social network “Instagram” (https://www.instagram.com/qazyna_kz/) and the winners were awarded prizes. As part of this event, a book exchange was also organized, and everyone could exchange their book with another participant of the fair.
