16 february, 2024

Every year on February 11, starting in 2016, the UN celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This holiday was also celebrated by 1st-year students of the Department of Economics, group “Economics-23” K1 and K2; a round table was organized on the topic “A woman scientist who changed the world.” According to the 4th goal of the Sustainable Development of the Future Society - “Quality Education” and the 5th goal - “Gender Equality”, the importance and work of the women’s society in science are determined. A study of 14 countries showed an imbalance between men and women in science. Therefore, a special day is celebrated to ensure gender equality in the field of science. During the curator's hour, not only the role of women in science was discussed, but also the students' personal valuable thoughts were listened to. The holiday is aimed at full and equal access of women and girls to science and ensuring their rights and opportunities, as well as supporting women scientists and their participation in research activities in the field of science and technology.
