A solemn event dedicated to the 8th of March Day was held in KazNU

In the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi held a solemn event "New Kazakhstan and gender equality", dedicated to International Women's Day on March 8.

Male teachers and professors of the university, deans of faculties, employees of the rectorate gave a festive mood to the female half of the staff.

The Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek addressed the women of KazNU with a welcoming speech.

"Today in Kazakhstan there are more than 22 thousand scientists, of which about 10 thousand are women. In addition, there are 47,859 representatives of the teaching staff, including 31,366 women. "On the Day of spring international women's holiday I wish everyone good health, spring blooming mood, inexhaustible optimism and a lot of smiles," - said in the congratulatory message.

In turn, Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev also congratulated the female half with the spring holiday and emphasized the role of women in higher education.

"Noting the role of women, Head of State Kasym-Jomart Tokayev said: "The role of the beautiful half of humanity in the family, in the life of society, in the comprehensive development of the state today is truly enormous. The state will always pay special attention to ensuring gender equality, protecting women's rights and strengthening family values".
That is why today's event is called "New Kazakhstan and gender equality". Since 2012 the public association "Women's Union of Al-Farabi KazNU" has been functioning in our university. This association promotes the status of women in society, their role in the political, economic, social and cultural life of the university. Woman-mother is the catalyst of family, the basis of well-being and unity. We men, always respect, appreciate and love you. How many songs and poems were written by poets dedicated to the beautiful half of humanity. But in fact, the eighth wonder of the world is women! Happy holiday to you, dear ones, let happiness and joy always reign in your home!" - said the rector.

В завершение руководитель вуза Жансеит Туймебаев наградил группу женщин-преподавателей и ученых медалью «Ерен еңбегі үшін» и вручил почетные грамоты и благодарственные письма.

It should be noted that today 1640 women work in KazNU, which is 65% of the total number of scientists of the university. Of them 348 doctors of sciences, 527 candidates of sciences, 340 PhDs, 1 academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 3 corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Kazakhstan.

The solemn event continued with a concert program, which was prepared by the forces of the men's collective.
